Dance of the Dots
How do you control the dots?
When you move in front of the exhibit, the dots respond instantly. This makes visible how digital systems capture and represent movement.
The Science Behind It
A camera captures your body and its movement in space. The data is processed in real time and used to update the display. On the screen, you see an artificially generated system of many small dots. They behave like particles in a physical simulation: they move, collide, and bounce off your body. They follow simple rules based on physical laws such as motion, impact, and friction. At the same time, a kind of “attraction” toward the center pulls the dots back. This creates a dynamic balance between movement and order. Your movements directly affect the system and change it immediately. The exhibit shows how digital systems can model physical processes and make them tangible in real time.
