Magne(t)tisch, exhibit at the curiocity Science Center in Freising

What does a magnetic field look like?

Move a magnet across the table and watch countless tiny magnetic needles align along the field lines. This makes an invisible magnetic field visible.

The Science Behind It

Each needle is a small magnet, like a tiny compass. Without an external magnet, the needles align with Earth’s magnetic field. Bring a magnet close, and its field combines with Earth’s magnetic field. The needles now follow the stronger field and reveal its structure in space. This makes invisible forces visible.
