A Glimpse into Infinity, exhibit at the curiocity Science Center in Freising

Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel?

Two mirrors create the illusion of an infinitely long tunnel of light. The exhibit demonstrates how light is reflected multiple times.

The Science Behind It

The mirrors are not quite parallel, which makes the tunnel appear slightly curved. Tilting a mirror makes the curve more pronounced. But the tunnel is not truly infinite: some light is lost with every reflection. That is why it gets darker the farther in you look, until it eventually disappears.
